Our Presentation

The group presentation is already underway, once we have done our usability testing on our final project we will be able to run through it, in preparation for Monday or maybe Tuesday!

Website update

Dans has already started the final website for our interactive narrative game!!!
Its looking very good and should be ready in time to be tested on Friday.

Compression

Jenny and I (Funmi) played around with different ways to compress our movies.
Paying attention to size and quality so that we have a good quality video
for the web.

Roles in project

Dan: Video shooting/editing, Script encoding
Funmi : Project managing, Sound recording/editing

Story order and new Text order

Story order

1. In the churchyard, there is said to be a spirit

2. Its appearance is a fatal omen of death to those who meet it

3. The last person remaining after a funeral is watch by the spectre

4. If the person is male, it takes on the beautiful form of a woman

5. It arranges to meet him in a month from that day at the churchyard

6. The promise is sealed by a kiss

7. The spirit disappears

8. The receiver of the kiss walks out the churchyard boundary they remember the history of spectre, sink into despair and instantly die

9. They will be buried in the place of the appointment on the day they had promised to meet the spectre again

10. There was a grave of one victim, that incident was happened 4 months ago.

11. He (the victim) took a fever and died and was buried on the date that he had met up with the spectre.

12. There are several cases of the same kind

13. It appears that the spectre does not confine to the churchyard only

14. There have been instances of its appearance at the wedding and dances where it secures its victim by dancing them to fevers.

Text order

1. You are a police man (in the story)

2. Now you have been sent to investigate the death of your colleague who had died while he was on duty, investigating mysterious deaths in a haunted village, barony of Truagh.

3. The first place, you are at the funeral of your colleague, PC Bob.

4. You interview several guests to collect clues of the deaths

5. One guest recommends you should talk to Mary at the wedding

6. You go to the wedding, finding Mary

7. When you arrive at the wedding, you witness Mary’s mysterious death

8. You interview wedding guests and find that Mary’s death related to your colleague death

9. You find more clues. Also, guests hint you about the legend of the spectre

10. You are given choices, go to graveyard or stop investigating

11. If you go the graveyard, You are met by a young beautiful stranger

12. Your are given choices, kiss her or interview her

13. If you kiss her, you die and your death becomes a legend as a death your colleague and others

14. If you interview her, you just encounter the spectre but still alive.

15. After interviewing young beautiful stranger, you found PC Bob’s notebook, revealing what has happened to him.

New Improved Questionnaire


Gail has complete the new questionnaire which we will use on Thursday 24th or Friday 25th, to test the final product, so no more 'yes' or 'no' responses!!

Video Files

Hello...

I have keyed the video with backgrounds and split them into separate parts. This has been saved on the group f intnar folder on the server under the movies part.

Sound clips and voices now need to be added as well as a little bit of editing to a couple of the clips:

The seduce seen has to be cut about 6 seconds before the end - before they kiss

Go to bench scene - need to cut the beginning and end. So we miss the bit that they enter and the bit they disappear.

Also make sure there is a rain effect in all the graveyard scenes and add the rain and thunder sound effect where appropriate - i did but it was left out when i split up the movie.

Remember this has top be done with imovie hd.

Plan for Filming tomorrow:

First we will do a test shoot, to see if sound and our green screen idea works.
If this goes well:

  • We will shoot all the solo characters.

Then shoot the:

  • Graveyard scenes
  • Church / Wedding scenes

Dan is lead for filming
Jenny (if she's well enough), Gail and I (Funmi) will be puppeteers/voices!!!

Usabilty Test

We conducted the usability test today, we did paper testing on 3 people.

Things we need to improve:

Make interactive characters clearly stand out as being clickable.
Make an instruction page, that introduces the game.

Make a better questionnaire, which will give us more in depth feedback.

Narrative Structure Diagram



This is the diagram of the basic structure of the text that we created,
It evolves around the Spectre and its victims.
It is an ever constant rotation as it is a legend (and therefore never ending)

The Interactive Video Structure


This is the structure we have come up with to present the text.
The narrator is now the VURP (viewer).
At certain parts of the story you have the opportunity to jump to a different video.
It will be presented online in the form as a website, because this way the video will be bigger and clearer and we can use sound as well as text.

Narrative Structure

We have come to a conclusion that the structure of our narrative is a Network Structure.
We came to this conclusion by looking at the text we were given and breaking it down into text and story order.
